Platelet Rich Plasma – PRP Facelift
Using Your Own Blood To Lift Your Face
PRP is a promising treatment that is increasingly used in cosmetic and orthopedic medicine.
Blood is collected in special tubes and centrifuged for 8 minutes. This causes the blood to separate into whole blood, platelet poor plasma (PPP) and platelet rich plasma ( PRP).
Platelets in the blood have one of the highest concentration of growth factors. In PRP the concentration of these growth factors is a five fold increase.
The PRP is activated by adding calcium chloride and the growth factors are released.
The activated platelets are then re-injected into the area treated where they trigger a cascade of events that stimulate healing and regeneration.
In our practice, we use PRP by itself or in conjunction with laser re-surfacing or dermapen micro-needling, to enhance results and hasten healing.
Suitable areas for PRP regeneration:
- Peri-orbital skin
- Cheeks
- Jaw line
- Neck and decolletage
- Hands
